| Rank: Member | Hey guys, I require some information regarding Glutamine/L-Glutamine. I've used Glutamine before, and I've used products that have contained L-Glutamine. I was told that it would help muscle recovery, possibly help with muscle growth, and I believe I was told it could help with cognetive thinking. Anyway, I didn't notice anything I'd say was a huge difference while on it. Still, I'm interested in trying it again. I'd like more/better information this time if possible. Here are my questions. (if you can answer one, or more that would be great) 1. One of the products I was looking at was L-Glutamine tablets. They were in 500mg doses, and there were 90 in a bottle for $12 Canadian dollars (is this a good price?). My main question is...is there a major difference between the pills or powder? I've only ever taken it in powder before. 2. I saw some micronized L-Glutamine as well. Is there a difference worth the extra cost? It's about 10 bucks more expensive. 3. What dosage do you guys take? I'm around 6'5 and about 240lbs right now. If I recall correctly, I was taking about 20grams of the stuff before, but that would be like 40 of these tablets. Maybe I'm confused. Thanks for any help |

| You need to stay consistent with the product brother. Like every other supplement this takes time to kick in. It should give you a better sense of well being. Glutamine is a amino acid and when the body goes through stress this is the one who gets hit first. I would at your size take 20-30grams a day. You need to check out (ids) glutamine with msm for your joints. I feel this is the number one neglected supplement by everyone. My opinion. Think about this why do Dr. tell people with hiv to take lots of Glutamine. Rebuilds blood cells. Several sites carry the IDS glutamine/msm |

Thanks for the info bro. I'll check that product out (although I already take MSM regularly). p.s. - I didn't just take the Glutamine that I had a couple of times and say "this doesn't work" and toss it. I used 1000 gms of it and didn't see or feel what I would consider obvious results. Anybody else able to answer my questions or offer any other information!? Gender: | There is alot of debate whether or not glutamine really is worth supplementing. I have heard both sides, but I think the main thing is people aren't really going to "notice" the results of glutamine. It isn't like other supplements like creatine or so forth where you will see it working. I take it because it is hella cheap and my dosage is around 20 grams a day split between my two shakes. I have been working off the same 1000 gram container for a few months. The main reason I take it is because it supposedly helps prevent muscle loss which is important during cutting. A really general article on glutamine can be found here. Overall there are alot of people who believe it doesn't do anything, so its up to you. I probally won't be buying it again after this container is through. I don't really know much about micronized glutamine but I figure that it would just be absorbed quicker and easier to digest like micronized creatine. Probally not worth the extra money for a supplement that many people don't believe in. Your better off just buying the powder because the tabs are going to be more expensive and like you said, you will most likely have to chug down quite a few to get in the same amount as the powder dosage. |

Sleazy, Thank you for the advice dude. Much appreciated. Yeah, I think I'm going to give it a try again. As you said, unlike creatine, you don't actually see quick results. I'm wondering if it didn't help me a lot more than I realized, because when I was taking it I was on a hard core diet and I didn't lose as much muscle as usual. Hmmm...I may actually try the micronized version just once, because the micronized creatine I use right now works better than the regular. If it doesn't help this time, I probably won't buy it again though. Thanks again (Does anybody know what exactly the difference is between Glutamine and L-Glutamine?

| Glutamine and L-Glutamine are most likely the same thing, it depends on the label. The L means that it is a free form amino acid, rather than peptide bonded which it also could be if it just says Glutamine. Peptide bonded just means that the Glutamine is bonded to another amino. Don't worry about the L since it could be L or D, allthough you will never see D-Glutamine or any other amino acids in D form (its a long story why not). Read the label and ingredients and check if it says Glutamine peptides or L-Glutamine. I am currently taking Legal Gears Pro Complex which contains glutamine peptides and alanine. I'm not sure if it is working. Some companies push that Glutamine can have a cell volumizing affect somewhat like creatine, only not as watery and bloated, so not as noticable. I take it after workout and before bedtime with half a scoop of whey and skim milk. Glutamine has also been said to increase hgh therefore the reason I am taking it at night as well. |

1. Are these the same countries that claim Siberian Ginseng cures AID's and Cancer? 2. Can you please list the names of these countries? (so that I can start shipping Glutamine there for outrages marked up, black market, prices!!!) 3. "'powdered lemon fish-oil'" <~~~~

Hmmmm, not 100% sure. I've never had an upset stomach from either, luckily. I have read what you stated about the intestinal tract and Glutamine. It's suppose to support healthy bowels in the long run though. I dunno. I'm going to grab this tub of L-Glut that I saw. It's not a great deal. It's $24.99 Canadian for 500gm's, but it's the micronized, so...what the hell... Thanks for the info Rave'
