| Rank: Bantamweight | WantingMuscle-- No offense intended, but your posts would be a lot more readable if you didn't use all the shortcuts in your words. This isn't a chat room or an IM session, so you don't have to type that fast to be noticed. "Words" like ne, u, b4, cuz, jus, ur, etc make some of the posts almost incoherent. Some abbreviations are necessary at times, but truncating the English language at every turn not only brings the intellectual level down, but hastens the demise of the written word every day. Sorry to "hijack" the thread this way, but I just thought it had to be said. Maybe I'm just old school, and I can mangle the language as good as anyone, but, hey, I guess I just love my mother tongue. |

| Rank: Bantamweight | I got the "mother tongue" thing from "sure Thing" starring John Cusack. He was pooh-pahing English and stuff and his buddy chastises him by says: "Yeah. English is only your mother tongue. And stuff." I just thought it was a well placed, though obscure, line. I just have a lot of respect for the English language, and the written word. And like I said before, I can mangle the language as well as anyone, but typing in such short had is an affront to not only the eyes, but the brain as well. Just because it's easier, doesn't make it better.... |
