Default What kind of powder should I use?

Ok, I've been here for some time but I found out that I should be in takeing more then 50 grams of protein, I should be taking in 200+. But I find that I can't eat that many in my meals without my mother screaming at me becuse I am eating an the freaking chiken and tuna in the house. So I thought, hey, I need to get some protein powder, to make shakes. What kind should I get? I found that I can get a gallon of this one powder for 20 bucks at costco, asking a friend who works there on what kind it is.

From talking to other friends I've found out that ones that have Whey-based, or Whey in it. Can use some help on this please. Thanks for reading!

I use Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey Double Chocolate and I am very happy w/ it. 23g protein per serving, plus the 8g I get with the (no fat) milk I mix it w/.

I take the ON on my days off....it is very good and affordable. I take Muscle Milk by Cybersport on my on days! Keep one thing in mind though. The body can't process any more than 40-45 grams per take in. So taking more than 40 grams at one time is a waste. Spread it out over the course of 5-6 meals per day

Where do you get that stat? I don't have a particular study, but look at this:

Yup, that's what I tried to tell other members in this forum as well. It was under "Protein Myths". Unless you're lactose intollerant with protein powder, you can easily assimilate more IMO...

Going by the 40 grams max logic, that's a dietary intake of 220-240 grams of protein total per day. I need at least...well let's see...246 X 1.5= 369 grams per day at least, and I always shoot for 400. If my body can only assimilate 40 grams per sitting, that would require me to eat 9-10 meals in a day. That would mean if I wake up at 6 AM, I'd eat one 40 gram meal every 2 hours until around midnight.

You should go over to this website where they stress 400 grams AT LEAST per day. www.intensemuscle.com

At least 50 grams. Mostly coming from 90% ground beef or tuna fish. I usually make my own creations such as taking 2 pounds of ground beef and making some hamburger helper out of 2 boxes worth. I divide that by 5 meals and there you go. As for protein shakes, I drink 23 grams of whey w/ a very tall glass of milk before bed. I take 23 grams whey before I workout and another 50 grams after. I keep good track, if I ever start falling behind I'll eat a few cans of tuna here and there. Another recipe I make is taking 2 scoops (46 grams) of whey and adding it to a big bowl of oatmeal. Oh yeah, my daily breakfast ritual is 4-5 egg whites plus 2 whole eggs for a total of around 7 eggs per day.
