Get ready for some reading This is what I've learned so far:
I use the bulk bag of EAS protein powder from Sam's Club. $40 for a 5-lb bag! This way, I can mix it with whatever I want, like fruit, oats, or anything else, unlike weight-gaining powders, where you can't remove the stuff you want, or modify it without going overboard on cals! Don't get tricked into thinking that the high-dollar 'mega protein' is better, simply because of fancy packaging, or high prices. Sure, some is better, but check the nutrition labels-they don't lie. You could use the Body Fortress (the brand that Wal-Mart carries), and do just fine!! Just remember that a lot of companies get their protein from a supplier (the actual manufacturer) and they slap their own label on it!

Weight gainers whether bought or made definitely can have their place for the right person. I agree with Slayer as I am very similar to him in terms of natural weight except my tendancy would be to weight even less!

I know lots of people think I'm a guy who never gains any fat but the truth is I just never try to get "shredded". I'm content with having a 4.5 pack or close to a 6 all year round rather than torturing myself with cutting diets. But when I do put on a little fat it is very easy for me to drop it. That is just how some people are. You really just have to experiment and fine whats right for you. You mention weightgainers and a lot of people will just give your a knee-jerk response and say they are evil but as this thread has demonstrated they can be very useful if you do it right.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Yeah, I agree. I don't 'dislike' gainers, they just don't seem to be for me.

Like the poster above me said... FOOD!!!

But make sure it is good quality proteins, good fats and good carbs. Don't throw everything out the window by eating stuff that raises your blood sugar.

Also, I prefer protein powder without any sugar or artificial sweetener in it. Plus Creatine.

I think the main thing is calories , so if you can't get enough in with food then go ahead and try that weight gainer out....Hell , I'm sure most of us at one time or another have tried a weight gainer.... But you don't want to put on 5-10lbs a week , do you ?

104g of carbs, 46 from sugar? thats not a good idea at all IMO.

How about something like this

http://www.nutraplanet.com/product/c...-servings.html

carbs from oats and barley.
