Creatine & L-Glutamine in the same serving
I've read in different locations that taking creatine & L-Glutamine in the same serving is not as benifical as taking them by themselves but different times. I also see various products which have both in them, but not the same amount of each in a serving.
I came accross the following: http://eas.com/nutrition/faq.asp?cmsId=1091 Quote:

HMMM....I actually think the most debated issue is whether glutamine does any good at all in the dosages that people normally take it. I have taken it and noticed I seem to get less colds or at least I thought so. I've never heard anything aboout them competing though.
When I used to use both post workout I would separate them a little. Creatine first and glutamine a little later but this was only cuz I wanted fast absorption and so didn't want to put too much into my stomach at once, i.e. I wanted to keep the mixture dilute. |

I have read that also in another forum. So what I do is take my creatine before workout and take in the Glutamine after. In this case, I know there will be no reaction. Based on what I read, there should be a two hour difference. |

I agree with this 100% even though that is coming from a company who sells supplements, I think glutamine is definatly worth buying if you have some cash laying around (its not something you NEED) but its nice to have. I notice not feeling as soar after a workout, but I think you only get these results if you go on a high dosage.....5 grams will not cut it. And as eric mentioned it also helps the immune system If you have any doubts about whether or not they combine together correctly why not just seperate them for the hell of it and don't worry about it....is it really required that you take the two together? |

I looked around but I personally haven't found any real evidence to support this competition theory, but as the others said, may a well separate them if it makes you feel better. |
Yeah, I haven't been able to find any evidence to support/reject this theory and have just decided to only combine 1 serving for convienance purposes. I've also thought about increasing the amount from the recommended 15g per day in 5g intervals, up to about 30g, until this supply runs out. I figure that way I can get a feel for my tolerance for it.
I'm still deciding to on if it's worth it to buy it seporately next time also. |

On the tolerance issue you can probably take HUGE amounts of something like glutamine without any problems. It's not that bio available although part of that is because it's so valuable to the gut and is absorbed and used by the digestive system. But anything that is not utilysed will just be oxidized. |
