Default Eating Outdated Protein Bars

Now I am sure that we all here know how expensive it can be to purchase supplements. Well I have got my hands on some protein bars that are just a bit outdated. Anyone have any word on the longevity of these items. I am sure that they will be ok. I just don't know if they will lose any of their nutritional values, and lastly if there is any harm. Maybe I am just a cheap bastard but when you can get them for about 10 cents a bar I wanted to check into it.

10 cents a bar?!?! If I had the means I would buy them too. Even if they do lose some of their nutritional value, you can't beat that price.

I don't think its a big deal as long as they aren't years old, especially since they are sealed and have preservatives. I eat outdated stuff in my fridge all the time and I'm still kickin

I have been trying to find outdated bars for ages.

You just found the pot of gold under the rainbow. What kind is it?

Detour, U-Turn, Powerbar Protein Plus, and KONG. Some are 2004 but most are just a month or two old. I found a surplus store here in town. I also got a pound of Glutamine for $9. Not expired.

From all of those I love Kong. It seems like it has a better source of carbs. The others taste just like a candy bar.

Speaking of bars, I know they are a horrible replacement for a meal but I just tried the new EAS bar (sample) and it is just killer good.

Where are you purchasing yours from? I have yet to come across those new EAS bars but I have heard good things. The KONGS are legit too

I'll purchase bars from bulknutrition every once in awhile or sometimes my local walmart will have some sort of protein bars for cheap (although they taste like crap) I want to find a place to get them for $0.10 a bar now too :P

EAS was giving out samples at SND, which I HATE. I live in canada.

Each time I go to Popeye's I always get free bars, customer service and staff knowledge is great.

I am just looking to find bars like Kong at a good price, to me its my cheat meal/candy. I think I deserve it.

After I became the assistant manager at Eckerd, I was doing the date check and found about 100 protein bars, Met-RX brand that was out of date. I only at half of them because it was the old kid bars, and their taste is not that appealing. I finally threw them away when I emptied my supplement cabinet. I never got food poisoning or anything of that sort, so my advice would be to go ahead and buy it unless its out of date by a year or so.

It's just a sell by date. I'd eat them unless they were years past due.
