Just out of curiosity, how many grams of protein do you take in every day?

For supplements I recommend...
Creatine Monohydrate
Beta Alanine
Citrulline Malate
Maltodextrin
Dextrose
BCAAs

OTIS, can you give us your stats, and goals please. Also, what type of lifting routine and diet your using.

OTIS 01-25-2008 06:13 PM

personal stats/routine that good stuff

Personal stats: Weight 132/ height 5'11 15 years old training for five months give or take a few weeks
Goals, gain more mass and definition along the way, i am not concerned about weight gain because i cant tell if it is muscle or fat being gathered so i go by what i see and how much stronger i get.
My routine is not set in terms of this part on this day and that day, but i always work the same two parts together on every workout and i vary the exercises each time.
I do abdominals on rest days and nights. I do cardio at night, while watching tv, or when i get back from school for 30 min, usually low intensity with brief periods of higher intensities on the treadmill.
My schedule is a bit jacked up because i am not old enough to drive myself around yet, so i am dependent on my parents to take me. I train always on Fri, sat, sun, maybe wednesday or thursday.
Diet: Breakfast 2 eggs with pieces of ham mixed in, glass of milk, one piece of whole wheat bread, lunch ham sandwich with milk and banana, 4:00 meal chicken breast, slice of bread dinner: Sweet potato, chicken or fish, milk.
PWOM: Turkey burger or beef burger between whole wheat buns and white cheese slices,2 glass of milk with whey protein powder, yogurt.
If i run out of anything i usually substitute like having fish for a PWOM, or chicken for lunch.
If this is not specific enough message me back, but otherwise i am looking forward to advice.

I dont know how much money i have available on supplements, but if they become too expensive and i dont know if i need them, then i wont buy them. I need to know what i need to improve so i can get what is only necessary. Where do you find good supplements?, my gym does not sell any, but there is a GNC store nearby.

You say you're not interested in gaining weight. But you want to gain mass?

Well, gaining mass means gaining weight. And sometimes, yes, there's going to be a little fat gain there too. It's just something you gotta deal with.

But, not to sound demeaning (even though it probably comes off that way :biglaugh:) I'm 8 inches shorter than you. And I'm 8 pounds heavier. Really, I think it would be in your best interest to cut back on some of the cardio and work towards building some muscle mass. Gathering from your height and weight, you've got to be pretty darn lean right now, so the best thing to do is to put some size on and go from there.

As far as supplements, get some whey protein, multi vitamins, and fish oils. That's really all you need. And especially with you being so young, you're really not anywhere near the stage of needing to supplement your diet.

gaining weight

What i meant is that i hear and read people going for 180 pounds, putting on a pound a week and so on, i understand that muscle gain means more weight, i just dont measure my progress by the scale.

You need to eat more food.

Pre workout protein (drink- aprox 15-20 min before)
Post workout protein /carbs (drink right after)
Eat some food 1hr after your workout.

And eat some more...
Like IK said cut back on the cardio.
