Your Favorite Supplements
Hey, just trying to add some life into these forums. There are very few daily posts so I'm trying to wake the community up. Post your favorite supplements and lets get this community active!
Favorite Protein: Optimum 100% Whey Favorite Creatine: Any plain CEE capsules..I go for the cheap ones lol Favorite Pre WO: 1MR (Stim), Bodyforge (Non stim) Favorite Multi: Opti-Men What is your favorites? |
Creatin for sure
|
Agreed. Creatine is probably the best supplement available. (whey can be replaced with high protein food, multi can be matched by eating very healthy, etc.)
|
1. Creatine monohydrate--buffered creatine formulas are crap.
2. Protein--I like Optimum Whey but any reputable brand would do. Add a decent multi vitamin and some fish oil and you're set--that's all you'd need. |

As I look back at what I've taken over the years and what has worked, I think for me all I really need is a good protein. Creatine rarely does anything for me, all the bullshit fat burners are garbage-I get the best results from a good diet and maybe a protein drink thrown in the mix. That doesn't mean I've given up trying supplements, I just started a cycle of clenbuterol, and that seems to have been helping (that may technically be a drug, and not a supplement).

other than my standard gainers and vitamins... creatine monohydrate + lots of leucine (BCAAS)
Try it guys its the main thin in alot of these "new formulas" it seem like the new stuff is just going back to better basics. Expect about 10% greater gains of lean mass more meaning if you gain10 lbs it could be about 11. :) Thats what the big thing was with the old ANATOR formula like 5yrs ago. |

I buy my weight gainers 99% of th time its Anabolic Muscle by Healthy 'N Fit. Its old school and it works.
L Leucine has been provine to provide great results when used in addition to normal protein. I believe the biggest studies were done at University of nottingham. Do a few more searches with non bias studies of course. this is also why hmb works so well. its not something that alone will make a difference but with others can increase their effects. |
If I could only have one supplement I would use fermented cod liver oil, so many benefits related to vitamins K, E and CoQ enzymes available in fermented cod liver oil everyone should use it

I like the Xtend. I guess there are probably glutamine products on the market that are cheaper but if you are buying the 1000g size there are not many. As for results, I never look for drastic results when using a product like this and although there are benefits I believe they are subtle. I am always leery of someone making claims about a product doing magical things for them and this has been one in which I have seen people make some pretty absurd claims. So it's hard to answer your question when it comes to this. We all know that glutamine aids in protein synthesis, anti-catabolism and cell volumizing but again I think the effects are going to be very subtle. Glutamine can also help you produce higher growth hormone levels but I think anyone using glutamine and claiming they have really noticed a huge difference in either their workouts or appearance are kidding themselves. One thing I do like about Xtend is there is zero carbs and zero sugar.
I would caution you though. I have tried the other flavors and found them to be pretty nasty. That's why I stick with the watermelon. |
Yeah a lot of people doubt Glutamine products and I am one of those so I figured I would ask. My protein has plenty glutamine in it so I've never actually tried any other supps. I'm more of a food guy lol

I hear ya.. I'm the same way. I hear big things about NOS. But since I've been at this for the better part of 20 years I am very skeptical everytime a new product comes out and everyone freaks over it. And although NOS is not really new, I know that when people try new things initially there is a little bit of a placebo effect that goes with something. I want it to work over the long term. I also know that people are also looking for something that will give them that "steroid" like effect. And it's not going to happen unless they do steroids.. My mainstay is eggs, Chicken breasts, Tuna, Salmon, brocolli, yams, steel cut oats and morning star black bean burgers. I do eat a lot of varients on the taco or fajita using low carb or whole wheat soft shells. There's really nothing that cant be made better by making a taco out of it. :) I don't eat a lot of fruit and my diet doesn't change much from day to day. I look at it this way, everything I put in my body that doesn't come from a healthy source is something that doesn't benefit me in any way. So I stick to what I know. I log everything I eat and have a gram scale right next to my stove. My ex thinks I'm obsessed, and maybe she's right. But I see other people my age and more often than not it makes me sick.
