Default 2007 Goals

Almost the new year, so why not state your new/revised goals for the oncoming year. I think it's a good idea to keep people ON TRACK, because we all know that some people will jump around from "I want strength" to "Now I'm fat so I want to cut" to "Shit, I lost all my muscle so I want mass"... After that viscious chain of events, he's right back to where he fucking started.. Wanting strength!

People's goals CAN obviously change as we go along, but overall it should gradually keep on course IMHO.

The purpose of this thread is to keep everyone honest with THEMSELVES, and to prevent (via peer pressure) the "wheels from spinning". So if six months down the road Joe the Bodybuilder makes a new journal detailing his oncoming HST training when he wants to gain 30 pounds on his bench press, some of us should start their posts with a link back to here.

This is also a good way to understand what each person wants, so when they are asking for advice, you have an idea of what they are after so wires don't get crossed.

For the upcoming year, I'm still primarily interested in powerlifting, meaning I only care about the BIG THREE..

Main Goals:

Bench: 425 unshirted (currently at 405 x 1)
Bench: 330 x 5 x 5 (currently around 305-315 for 5x5)

Squat:
- Wide Parallel and OLY: 455 (currently 425 OLY, slightly more parallel)

Deadlift: 525 lbs (currently 495 ish)

That's about it for me. Even if I come close, I'll be happy. I plan on keeping my conjugate training for the entire year, making minor adjustments as I go along. If I feel like doing a more "bodybuilder'esque" workout, I'll try it out during a deload.

hmmm that sounds familiar ... I wonder who your talking about?

My goals have shifted a lot in the past, but I think i finally have some clarity so here you have it.

1. First 3-4 months regain/increase strength on the big 3.

2. Increase endurance (both strength and cardio)

3. Start training for MMA comps.

i want to be strong, big and cut!

It would be nice to get into the 1000lb club for the big 3! Almost there w/ squat and Dead but bench is really holding me back. I think i have a genetically weak chest :-/ Hopefully that will change when i officially start doing the 5x5 in Jan!

LOL, I wasn't thinking of you! I was leaning towards the overall attitude of almost every forum I've seen.. Sometimes this one as well.

This is something that I have thought about for awhile.

1st - It would be nice to hit 305 * 5 (bench) 405 *5 (squat) 405 *5 (deadlift) I will be working on shoulder press aswell, but not sure what to set up for a goal there.

2nd - a couple inches to my legs would be nice.Inches everywhere , but the waist would be nice. ( I did it in 06, so why not 07 - will post results in another board)

3rd - Cardiovascular has to improve big time...!

A weight of 225lb with some extra inches would be nice.

TALO's Sig:"But when do you actually grow? Well, we don't grow in the gym. In the gym, we destroy. We tear down the body. We only grow when we are recovering. That's right, I said recovery. I see it all the time--people beating themselves up in the gym and not seeing results. They don't understand that hitting the weights hard is only a small part of growing or even cutting down. I could train the same all year round and get big or get ripped just by eating different and taking different supplements"

Not much has changed for me, but my training goals for 07 are:
  • Increase strength & mass.
  • Reach and maintain protein requirements.
  • By summer, finally get the 6pk.

Pretty simple & common huh.
