I am about to start the 5x5 program and i am not sure on one thing. If i am doing bench and i can do 230 for 5x5 do i use the same weight each set or do i try to increase the weight from the first set to the last?
Example:

or

That would be the weight for your 5x5.

That would be the weight for a 1x5 (very close increment 1x5 IMO)

Which one you do depends on the program and where you are at in your lifting. You can do either/or or you can mix them. Read through this to help you decide what is right for you and choose one of the programs, following them to the letter.

The first link is Madcow's explanations and that will be very helpful in helping you evaluate which method to use. The second is the 5x5 sticky where you'll find a whole lot of explanation of dual factor theory as well as the programs from Aninmal Mass, Needsize, and Madcow.
