And Brad...since you planted a seed of doubt in my otherwise feeble mind, I decided to go back and check the suggested workout plan. I though I had read it right, but you made me doubt my memory ( I am getting old and the gingko is running out). Here is an excerpt from the article:

"#8. Super-Intense Time-Compression Workouts
You take your first workout at 9:00 AM and perform three supersets with barbells. At 9:30 AM you do two supersets with dumbbells. Every even and odd hour you continue to do a 3 *supersets methodic of barbell movements, and every even and odd half-hour you exercise with the dumbbells for a 2 **supersets methodic. The last workout will occur at 5:30 PM.

Each of these mini-workouts
will take
approximately
4-7 minutes to complete.

9:00 AM SUPER SET:
B1: Classic Standing Two-Hands Barbell Curl : 3 sets 4-6 reps each set
B2: Standing EZ-Bar French Press: 3 sets 4-6 reps each set

Methodic: *Positive Phase Speed Reps/Slow Negative Return Supersets. Rest - pause 1.5 minutes between each of the 3 supersets. "

Now, I read that as three supersets and with 4-6 reps and being a high-intensity kind of guy, I took that as to failure. I mean, why else would you want to do 4-6 reps...maybe with a 25 lb dumbell for an ego boost?

Soory about being defensive...just trying to say that there is no magic pill. ;)

Touchee. I did not read the program correctly. When I am wrong, I'd like to think I promptly admit it.

I am very glad you had a great father-son day. Whatever the results of the work out, that was worth it.

As for "one routine for everyone", of course there isn't. But when one of them asks me to devote nine hours in one day of my life to it, I have to ask: why?

And my question to you, is did you get the extra 1/2 inch on your arms?

(and as for father and son bonding, you coulda went fishing and not been asleep by 1:30)

For the 1/2" gain thing....no. Kept a 1/2-3/4" pump for a couple days and MAYBE a 1/4" gain on day three. I think that's why they want you to measure after 24 hours, while the arms are still swelled up.
Sorry about coming off as touchy. I had to fast yesterday for a cholesterol check and I get a little pissy when I don't get food. I gotta call the clinic here in about an hour to see if my numbers are down from last year. They were high (can't remember exact #s) and I got lectured about eating too much red meat. I'll be damned if I give up my steaks, though.
Back to the weights...it's back day and junior is yelling at me.

If you really want to beat the shit out of yourselves on a saterday afternoon, here is what I do. (note, this is not for building muscle, this is a glycogen depleation workout in accordance with the ckd diet) you cant build any significant amount of muscle in a days time.

first excercises dont matter, but they should be isolations, simply pick two per body part and one as a transition. superset the first two, then hit the third by itself. example

chest tri:
incline fly, low cable single arm cross (3 sets to 20)
dips (3 sets to failure)
rope push downs, skull crushers (3 sets to 20)

then do the same set up for legs and shoulders, then for back and bis

then i hit the tredmil for 20 min, puke in the parking lot, then start my carb up ...

Talking Hah

This whole thread is making my laugh my @ss off.

I was thinking "man..who the hell would even THINK that was a good idea"

that is....until I got some flashbacks to when I was 21 years old and my friend and I would go work out at the local 24 gym and spend 4-5 hours working out are arms.

Live and learn
