Question ? about trap bar lifts

Will I get the same results doing trapbar deadlifts as I would straight bar deadlifts? I have heard you get the same results and you are less prone to injury.

Thanks

Bryan

I don't think you'll get the same results strength wise. It won't transfer over 100% to real world lifting. Even lifting something like a couch is closer to straight bar dl than trap since a couch doesn't have a hole you can get in before you lift it. It won't be the same training for you back although is will certainly be gentler on you lower back. A trap bar makes it more like a squat where you're holding the bar in your hands than a deadlift, imo.

So in other words I don't think they are the same lift at all. I would think you certainly woulnd't get results in the erectors like you do with straight bar but as for the rest I couldn't say.

EricT's Sig:I'm tired of the myth that bb'rs aren't flexible. As a group, they are extremely flexible. They have an amazing ability to bend over, place their heads between their legs, and blow smoke up their own asses.
