Default Can i run and bulk at same time??

Well track season for me is over, now i want to get back to lifting weights. For a sense, track made me more mentally stronger and i will probably be able to stick to my plan precisely this time.

I was wondering if i can start out back on ripptoe's beginning strength, and bulk and drink my weight gainer AND go running on alternate days when i'm not lifting. Is this possible or is it overtraining?

how many days lifting and how many cardio days? I dont see anything wrong with running 2-3 days a week.... as long as you arent running like 10 miles a day haha... sprints would most likely be better than distance running

Yes, just make sure you take in adequate calories to bulk. For those fatties (like me) cardio is reccomended on off days so i do anywhere from 20-45min.

Remember that distance running is very catabolic. Are you interested in keeping up your running abilities as well? If so, I'll give you a good program that will be pretty good for endurance as well as muscle retention.

I would suggest haveing a BCAA drink to sip on if you are going to be doing long time cardio....It will help feed the muscle

TALO's Sig:"But when do you actually grow? Well, we don't grow in the gym. In the gym, we destroy. We tear down the body. We only grow when we are recovering. That's right, I said recovery. I see it all the time--people beating themselves up in the gym and not seeing results. They don't understand that hitting the weights hard is only a small part of growing or even cutting down. I could train the same all year round and get big or get ripped just by eating different and taking different supplements"

DoT, yes you definitely can do both. Get back on the Rippetoe program and take Talo's advice on the BCAA drink as it will definitely help. Good luck.
