Why the 'carbs, no carbs' thing? Eating the whole egg isnt as bad as once thought, seems the cholesterol helps testosterone production. Try 'fewer meals' daily - sure eating 5-7 will burn calories, but the energy taken up to breakdown and assimilate the meal can far better be used to build muscle - BIG controversy topic there. If all your gonna eat is chicken forever till comp time, get some efa oil - not in pill form- the actual bottle of EFA oil. Try Udos Oil or something similiar. Some buds of mine will drink about a cup a day close to comp. Its GOOD for you. Eating no fat, doesnt mean you wont get fat - the total opposite is true. Fats are fuels - get them in vegetable form - like Udos or Flax oil. Your gonna crash hard if you stay away from the fats and keep low carbing it. Dont take advanced diet or nutrition advice from your fellow competitors(or friends), they ll always lie or mislead you if thats what it takes to win the comp. Hang out in a DRY HEAT sauna and drink pure unsweetened grape fruit juice (about a liter a day, or more if you can handle the s  t) Coconut juice is a dieuretic if you want to go that route. You really dont need to be drinking a gallon of water daily -- drink it when your thirsty and thats all. Sodium - another controversey! Lay off the heavier weights close to comp - Go medium weight/high reps and do cardio like a bastard - Go Keto for three weeks to a month before comp - itll melt your bodyfat off as will motivation from the Raven

Unhappy ..no/low carbs...

I'm with you that no carb days are brutal to get through. Do you think maybe having a few healthy carbs first thing after you finish your morning cardio (on the empty stomach) might actually be beneficial? Anybody else care to comment on that?

I realize you are training for a competition, but I'm just concered about that few of carbs in your system for so long. A friend of mine that was training for a competition went crazy with no carbs 5 days a week, 3 weeks out from her comp. She was suntanning at 2 different places and taking diueretics. She ended up waking up in a hospital bed 1 week out. It seems that walking on her way to one of her tanning appointments, she just completely colapsed and was out for aprox. a half hour before a pedestrian finally called an ambulance. She had to drop out of her comp. The next comp she trained in, she just had her healthy carbs early in the morning and cut them out throughout the day. That way she wasn't killin' herself, but she was restricting them enough to still cut the fat and water she wanted.

You know your body better than I do, I'm just watchin' out for a fellow builder's health.

Take care

Raven

Sngle_chck,

The only thing I didn't see on your list (like Taurus pointed out) is EFA's. Something like Flax or Fish oils, will help you out trememdously. One thing is with a lower carb to no carb diet, is that hair can start to dry out and fall out! You can start having the same problems with your skin, as it will dry out and start flaking.

Taking 2 caps of Fish/flax with your Protein meals making them P + F meals will help get the metabolism kicking again as well.

If you are feeling a little lethargic raise your carbs on weight training workout days, and keep the aerobic days very low to zero carbs like you've been doing. Just add in the EFA's and you will notice a difference!

I used to compete in BB shows a little over 10years ago and the only thing that has changed a little bit, is the nutritional aspect of contest preperation.
The way that you are doing it is the same as I did back in the day! It's not bad at all, it's just there are more less painless ways to reach your goal without having to suffer.

I'm getting in some pretty good shape right now and depending on how I look a month from now, I may dust off the posing trunks and enter a BB show! So, I feel your pain with this diet, as I'm dieting down too! Take care and good luck!

I thought she said she takes fatty acids, what else could it be other than EFA's?? I doubt someone will chug down a cup of oil.

Sorry all,
Yes, my "fatty acids" are EFA's.....Haha, haven't gotten the lingo yet....

I have already been thinking bout next competiion and how I'll do differentely. Consistency is key I know, so I figured, finish strong, take it as a growing experience...Right? Well, I did the whole eat Very clean, no carb restricting, but all good low GI carbs, none after 6 (unless post workout) and moderated cardio. Fat just melted off me then,........Definetely believe that the whole 2 days no carbs deal was too dramatic, b/c then I had to work harder cardio wise and my bod still wasn't lettin go of fat. BF loss went down fast b/c of strictness. Well, 3 weeks left, well see how it goes.

I would just stick to the isopure and drop the 100% whey because it's concentrate. Whey isolate has less impurities like fat, lactose, ect. It doesn't matter that much, but every little detail will help. ;)

"Many coaches and athletes don't believe in the benefits of GPP at all. Who are the worst offenders? Bodybuilders and powerlifters are by far the worst!. They feel that all they have to do is train the main lifts to get strong. This is why so many of them are out of shape." - Dave Tate

APOC, I knew she was taking the efa, yet I thought she was taking just oil caps/pills. I recommended the bottle. Its cost effective.
