Well there's not a set time prescribed to the program he's doing. The idea is to do it until you completely stall out on everything for a while. And there are always ways to keep the weight moving up for longer than you think is possible so I agree you can run that for quite a while. But it's not really about "loading" per se in the first place since it's single factor...i.e. it's not a periodized program in that sense.

I doubt very many people could run it as is for more than 8 to 9 weeks but I have a feeling a lot of people run it shorter because they fuck it up and get oversealous.

Like 0311 said two weeks is probably not necessary. If you do feel you need to do it I believe in keeping the intensity high and drastically reducing the volume. You could go to 3x3 and drop the squats on wednesday or something similar to what you'd do if you were on the advanced programs.

I have decided 2 weeks for the simple reason ,I have loads of parties to go too over the christmas period and i hate to workout when i drink or even feel slightly hang over,so the idea is not to loose the weight i have achieved as it is a personal best for me but try to maintain it even if i have to go once a week to the gym.

Any suggestions

THANKS
Jay

Well then I suggest not bothering with the gym until January. Never do anything half assed IMO. Trust me, I've tried this many times in the Marines. I used to get shit faced 4 nights a week clubbing in southern CA for the 4 years I was in. I was also very serious about lifting as well. Unfortunately, I was spinning my wheels.. Essentially trying like hell to fight through the bouts of feeling weak in the gym. Even if I had a good month of gaining, I'd get sent to the field training for a month in the desert or something... Thus going back to square one! If I could do it over again, I would've just done circuit courses in the gym, maintaining combat readiness versus trying to lift for size.

Long rant, but the main idea is the same. Don't bother until Jan. and get all your fun and drinking in this month. It's easier setting your mind 100% on lifting vs. trying to make it in once or twice a week in between partying like a rockstar.

You'll likely lose a little strength but it will be easy to get back. It could be that your maxes drop a little but in my experience with that kind of layoff I maintain pretty much the same ability except that it is much harder in terms of effort. So in other words you maintain your maxes but just barely. It's really up to the individual but it won't be anything earth shattering.
