| Rank: Lightweight Experience: > 1 Year | I normally lift by myself. For brief periods, my brother and I will get on the same schedule. He motivates me to give everything I have in the gym (can't let Little Brother get bigger than me). I was wondering about the rest of you guys (and gals) on the forum. |

Gender: | I lift alone because I lift in the mornings and there's only old ladies there in the morning and one or two old guys (with the exception of the personal trainers) ![]() I've yet to see a male of any age under 70 there in the mornings, they come out at night! ![]() |

| Rank: Member Experience: 1-2 Years | Occasionally I lift with my pal Kevin, but that's really only if I need a ride to the gym. He's not much for motivation, given that he doesn't get any Pre or PWO nutrition, doesn't eat like he should, and as a result, he's been benching the same weight since March. I keep asking him about it, to absolutely no effect. I mainly relate that story to say - I find lifting with a partner mostly just distracting. If you really want to get stronger, the motivation has to come from yourself - and if that's so, I like lifting alone so I can focus my thoughts. |

Gender: | I've lifted both by myself and with a partner for years now. Now that I have experienced both I'd much rather workout alone. While a partner can be motivating and helpful when a spot is needed, sometimes partners can't be relied on. He can't go to the gym so maybe I'll skip this workout and do something else. I hated waiting for someone when they were running late too. I get my workouts done faster by myself and less chit chat. If I need a spot there is always a few guys I know there that can lend a hand. |

| Rank: Lightweight Experience: > 1 Year | I hear ya on that. When I lift with my brother, we both have headphones on. We talk for about a minute when we get to the gym and then nobody says a word for about an hour and half which is nice. We have just worked out enough to know not to **** with each other when we are in there & we stay focused. I hate working out with other people though. |

| Rank: Lightweight | its cool working out with other people but its a distraction sometimes. because they normally lift smaller weigths than me so we are taking weights on and off all workout. that aint to bad sometimes because that can be a workout in itself. or if i work out with a lady it is horrible sometime sbecause i have to watch their eveymove and i can never get to my workout |

Gender: | i like to lift with my buddies on the football team, becasue im the smallest of the linemen, so seeing there weights go up is a motivation for me to try and catch up. even though one of my friends benches more then ill be able to before im 20 (365). it still motivates me to work harder, and smarter to get a little bit of an edge on them and start next season (or next week). |

Gender: | I dont like someone going through my same routine or whatever because I'ts impossible to be on the same shift as any of the approximately uhhh 2 guys that lift. But it is nice to have someone you know at the gym for spotting etc even if they are not by your side for the full workout |
