| Howdy, I have been going to the gym for about 6 weeks about 4 times per week. I am moving in to a new routine with squats and what not.. currently I have been doing dumbbell squats. The gym has a smith machine (I have read some not so good things about doing squats with that). How do dumbbell squats compare to squats (regular) and to squats (smith machine)? Thanks. |

Is the smith machine bad for the knees (or other)? Since it doesn't let you go your natural line? | |

Gender: | Does your gym have a squat rack? If so nothing much to be afraid of. You can start as light as you want and get it down. You're right in your thinking about the smith machine. Just like lafittraineer and 0311 said. You're body needs to follow a certain path to utilize proper biomechanics. And yes, they can be bad for your knees. |
