Default Eat first meal before or after workout

I have the option to workout first thing in the morning. Should I eat before or after?

Without a doubt after. If you have solid food in your stomach, your body will start drawing fluids into it to help digestion. Lifting on a full stomach will make you feel sick and slow you down. I've tried it and it made me sluggish. Your best bet is to drink a preworkout shake consisting of dextrose, maltodextrin, and whey protein. I'd drink this upon awakening, then hit the weights a half hour later. The shake is liquid allowing for a much faster digestion providing your muscles with nutrients in time for lifting.

Excellent advice. A pre-workout shake then. McFlurry? Just kidding.

For those occasional early A.M. workouts, I down two tablespoons of flax oil or Sesathin, an eph/caff tabs along with two cups of coffee and I'm wired to go.

I am a am guy so this is how I do it. I will drink a pre workout shake about a half hour before Just as 0311 indicated and follow up with a post workout shake. I go home shower and then eat breakfast which is approximatly 1 hr later.

I am the same as X when I do an AM workout..There is no way I would lift on an empty stomach!! I usually blend protein powder, old fashioned oats, and water as my pre-workout shake.

I know u all are going to disagree with me, but I have gone to gym in an almost full stomach and never had any problems, I was just little slower thats all. As for afterworkout, I always eat a meal with a protein shake or a protein smoothie from this store at our cafeteria called Freshens. I am hungry like a mofo after workout, so I never miss that meal. Started recently I have started taking a scoop of whey before working out, and it has done nothing but good stuff to me.

Being a little slower would be reason enough for me. I'll take every advantage I can when I'm in there.

I was fine on the days that I took ECA, but I am not goint to do that anymore. I love being off of that stuff. I am going to try to get down from 12 to a single digit body fat with my own effort, I have been doing cardio for 30 minutes for 5 days a week for the past month or so.
