Exclamation Help Me! Cut Fat and Gain Muscle

First of all i'd like to mention that I was referred to this site by a friend and he said I would definetly find people that would help me here.

I'm 17 years old, 218 pounds and roughly 5'11'', im not too sure about my body fat %, and Ive been doing sports all my life. I want to lose the excess fat ive got on me because, well, its excess fat.

First of all, I want to change my diet because im at University of Miami, and the eating here is not helping me at all, I was wondering about a diet based on shakes and small meals throught the day much like the track teams here are doing, so that i wouldnt be as tempted to eat the crap they serve here.

Secondly, I want to build my overall muscle without overworking myself, which has always been my weakness. I dont know what to do to be able to keep myself in check other than a strict work-out schedule.

What are you eating everyday ?

17 at the University of Miami?


In addition to diet, how do you currently train? How much experience do you have?

I actually turned 17 in october, i was two years ahead at the school that i went to in the islands (dominican republic)

i just got back from there, vacation, and before then i was eating fast food and just junk all the time, now im planning on changing that drastically though, so far im on a lot less food, not depriving myself, but mixing it up a lot with sushis and stuff, staying away from fast food.

As for experience, i was capitan of my volleyball and soccer teams back home, and did gracie jujitsu for a while, ive been working out on and off ( i cant say ive done it properly for more than 6 months at a time) but i know what i am doing and how to basically set a routine up for myself, i just really need the help to get me properly going, whihc is why im asking for your opinions.

currently (meaning before i left for christmas break) i was sure i was overworking myself, working out every day, separating areas of the muscle groups to give them at least one day of rest in between workouts, but i was playing on club soccer and ultimate frisbee at the same time (5 and 6 days a week for both sports)

So if you could pick one, would you rather build muscle mass or strength? Thats an important factor in making out a routine. And you wanna bulk...dont deprive yourself, but eat clean. Tell us what you currently eat. Keep a log of your training AND diet, huge tools. You need to eat at LEAST 250g of protein for someone of your size to bulk.

ok, will do for the training log and food, and get back to you guys in a couple of days. what i really want to do however is cut fat and gain muscle mass, so i guess it would be to bulk up, but my priority would be to lose the fat, especially around my waist, without overworking myself.

See, my problem is that once i get going i dont really sotp. right before the end of the year, my routine (which i will post later today) was ok... but my problem was that once i was done, i went out o train with my teammates for at least 2 hours, after running at least 6 miles before practice. like i said i dont know when to stop.

also, i have used whey protein before, and have with me this supplement called NO Xplode, which helped me alot during the 6 months that i did train every day. what do you guys think about this, when taken alongside the protein which you were telling me about.?

Forget the no-xplode, get some CEE and citruline malate from www.bulknutrition.com . You say you want to get up in muscle mass, so check out HST, DC, Volume training, etc... Stick to the program, DONT change it. Do cardio on your off days and adhere to carb cutoffs. You'll see some improvements within a few weeks.

I really don't think that is your problem, Nobody that I have met is overweight because they train to much....It's all in what you eat. Nail down your diet and you will be good.

Relating to what you eat, i was wondering if you eat anything during all this training? If not, running 6 miles (about 1 hour) then 2 hours practice can take a toll on you body and create a state of catabolism. Thats not good for building mass AND cutting.
