Question HIIT Cardio and Deloading

Hi guys Im deloading this week and was wondering if I could add some High intensity cardio? would this interfere with the deload much? Im currently at a Beginner or very Low intermediate stage.

I have been doing low intensity for a while and want to add some HIIT cardio in the form of bike sprints.I dont have a sled yet but Im working on building one with a mate of mine.

I would be doing the bike sprints in intervals. ie start at 5mins or so twice per week and slowly adding time as the weeks go by.

Anyone with thoughts on this would be great

As long as you recover both mentally and physically during your deload, then it doesn't matter IMHO. What are you going to start with for intervals?

I was just gonna do them out the front of the house at a distance of about 2 blocks.I would sprint the length and then slowly pedal back and repeat for about 5-7 mins to start with then add time as I progress.Sorry if this seems a bit vague in description but I have no idea of the distance yet.

As long as you're just doing some shorter sessions like that (10 minutes or less of active HIIT) during your deload week, then there shouldn't be any problem.

Just be mindful of your recovery. If it leaves you feeling a little weak/wobbly still the next day, cut it out.
