Default home gym

If someone is looking to set up their home gym for cheap:

I was at Sports Authority yesterday, they had a 100 lbs set, incl. one barbell and two ind. barbells (don't know how you call it) for $70

The additional weights are $1 per pound, so for a 25lbs weight you pay $25.

I think this is a real good alternative to the dumbbell sets I saw on the internet costing $1500 and more, plus shipping of course.

Just some food for thought.

The price for those individual weights is STEEP. I have seen them for $.50 a lb.

The other stuff isn't bad though. You can do a lot with that 100lb set.

^^Agree - I'm not sure if you have a fitness depot near, but they have them there for 50 cents.

TALO's Sig:"But when do you actually grow? Well, we don't grow in the gym. In the gym, we destroy. We tear down the body. We only grow when we are recovering. That's right, I said recovery. I see it all the time--people beating themselves up in the gym and not seeing results. They don't understand that hitting the weights hard is only a small part of growing or even cutting down. I could train the same all year round and get big or get ripped just by eating different and taking different supplements"

Ross is right, that is way overpriced. I have seen them for $0.50 per pound as well and would not pay more than that. Where on the internet have you looked?

One caution about using the internet is that paying the shipping costs for a weight plate would be mammoth. I bought all mine in person only for that reason, and while Sports Authority had them at $1/lb., I found them nearby for $0.45/lb. and obviously stuck with that.

That first part about the 100lb. set isn't bad, though... like Ross said, that could do a lot.

In the UK plates are generally £1 a kilo.
