id agree with the eating i have made more gains in the last 5 weeks by actually eating lots than i have ever made before by not eating properly and again what these guys have all said my arms have grown more by not doing curls and the like and keeping my program to the basic compound lifts by the time ive finished a workout im feeling it all over!!!

nickysoprano's Sig:just so people are aware my diet is something i am constantly trying to improve due to surgery i had to have on my throat which cut my stomach size down by half as a not so great side effect so please take into consideration when making comment on my current eating (although comments are welcome)v:-)

dips are a great exercise for triceps, heavy bar curls for biceps 8-10 reps. Keep in mind that your triceps are the bigger muscles in your arms, most guys focus on biceps more because it is the more "popular" muscle. I see a lot of guys in my school with unproportionate arms, more biceps than triceps. They have big biceps but small arms. Give equal attention and effort for both.

Nothing reasonable I could add to this - Already great advice. Arms are not different than any other muscle when wanting growth. Growth requires food, period. Small muscles like bi's get a lot of work from any pulling exercise and tri's get a lot of work from any pushing exercise.

Direct work is good for shaping.

Ross not exactly sure what you are asking but I will take a stab at what I believe you are.

Isolation exercises for the bi's can help change the shape of bi and probably adds a small amount to size. By changing the angle a muscle is hit can add to the shape.

Muscle shape is genetic. I wanted to see what your thought process was. Changing the angle won't change the shape of the muscle.

Genetics is how a muscle anchors etc. On some people the bicep anchors close to the elbow and others it might anchor farther from the elbow. In my case the Biceps anchor (distal end) about 2 fingers above the elbow. The result of this genetic anchor is a lack of natural peak to the biceps when flexed. By using isolation exercises for the outer head, I have been able to increase the peak. Muscles change shape all the time. When we do not exercise the fibers lay flat giving the muscle a flat appearance, when we exercise and fill the muscle they take on a round shape.

The biceps being two muscles laying side by side, if we build up one side ( long head ) more than the other side (short head) then the muscle changes shape (biceps bacillus).

When we build up a small area of a muscle or hit it from a different angle I believe it changes the shape of the muscle. I would suppose it depends on how we define shape

I think it depends on how we define shape. To me, most of what you said has more to do with "size" than "shape". But I agree with everything you said.

You probably destined to have a certain limit to your "peak" or a certain lack to it regardless. But unless you are a pro and have judges looking at every little detail it shouldn't matter that much. If your biceps are big enough nobody will care
