Default left tricep

i have always had on and off pain in my left tricep when lifting. it went away for a couple weeks and as i started lifting seriously the past week sometimes when im lifting it will just die and i completely lose strength in it, its real dangerous as i almost dropped a dumbell today. any ideas as to what u think it could be, i went to the doctor a month ago and he said just give it rest, thats what i did and it went away but now its back

Since you gave it rest the muscle isn't used to doing heavy training, I would recommend starting off light and then easing your tricep into heavier work.

Is it the actuall muscle that hurts and not a joint?
You could be pinching a nerve, that can cause you to suddenly drop the weight.

Pain usually signals that something is wrong with that area of your body (no sh*t, right?)
Have you tried lifting lighter weights with higher reps to increase blood flow? Are you jumping into heavy lifting with an isolation movement of the tricep without warmups?
