Question Need help with torn muscle

I'm a newbie who has been reading this forum for quite a while. I think I have a chance of getting good answers here.
I tore the Gastrocnemius muscle in my leg two day's ago. That is the large muscle that connects to the Achilles tendon at the back of the calf.
What if any thing can be done to speed the recovery time?
I am a 49 year old fairly serious amatuer golfer. I started lifting two years ago in anticipation of turning 50 and playing in a number of senior amatuer tournaments this summer. I am 5'9" 165 lb with approx 12-13% body fat.
The muscle tore while I was coaching baseball. I was jogging slowly when it let go. Bad deal. I would greatly appreciate all the input I get on this.

Sorry to hear about that. I have tore muscles in the past and the only thing you can do is not use it. It will heal on it's own. Usually the first tear it will heal reletavily quick but if you retear it before the healing process is complete then you are in for some serious down time. I assume you got alot of blood build up. That will go away over time. Usually by the time all the bruising goes down and the swelling goes away you can start working it again just use caution. Drink lots of water, take your vitamins and get rest, no real magic to healing.

Get some ace bandage also, and tie that part real good, I dont know if it will help much, but hell something is better than nothing. Also listen to the stuff Daughter X said.
