| Hey. New to this forum. Before I start, Im 16 years old, weigh 140lbs and im 6 feet tall. I started working out regurarly a few months ago... about christmas times. Did a bit of research and bought a pair of dumbells. Before that i used to do some pushups and situps a few times a week... nothing special. Id say I work out about 4-5 times a week unless i feel sick or tired. Heres the thing, because of my limited equipment (dumbells, floor and body =P) i feel a bit limited. I dont work out any heavily, just to gain some muscle. 3 sets of 10 bicep curls 2-3 sets of triceps kick-back 10 pushups 25 situps Sometimes overhead tricep press And a few lateral deltoid raises for shoulder strength (Sometimes less, sometimes a bit more) Ive gotten some muscle mass mainly on my arms and some on my shoulders. As i mentioned, the problem is the lack of equipment. I cant afford to go to a gym and my family is having financial problems so I cant really afford any more equipment although im planning on buying a pullup bar. What would you guys recommend for me to do. I notice my upperbody strength growing, but I dont know what exercises to do to improve my chest with my limited equipment. I have nearly no chest muscles what so ever and im looking to change that, how? Is there any way of training chest muscles decently effectively without a bench or more advanced equipment? Any reccomendations, links or general advice on how to improve? Thanks. |

My question is does your school have one? Also you can buy sandbags or make them and do tons of lifts, you just have to think outside the box. http://sandbagexercises.ifsstrength.com/products.html http://www.warriorforce.com/sandbagconstructionkit.pdf Remember try thinking outside the typical workout. Also, a pull up bar is a good investment. I've done workouts with sandbags and it's one of the hardest workouts you can do.

good advice...also 2nd hand shops usually have some cheap equipment, you might want to check into that. Or garage sales/yard sales.(as the warmer weather comes in)

| Thanks.. ill look into that. Is there any way to work chest muscles with the limited equipment I have? And also, are there any other exercises involving dumbells and the body you can recommend for me to put into my workout? |

| Thanks.. Theyre like beginner dumbells... one is 22lbs and the other is 17lbs.. I only use the 17lbs for deltoid raises. Is it possible to do flies while on the flat floor? Im sure i could just use a normal bench of some kind tho. No my school doesnt have a gym.. its being built actually. Not done yet. |

| All good ideas guys, I would also ask around to some of the people at school. Maybe a buddy has a home gym you could get in on, or perhaps, since the school is building the wieght room right now, they have a program/discount at a local gym for athletes. If none of that works out, go to home depot and get creative. you can get steel piping cheap, and some 2x4 studs to make a pull up bar, and a dip station. There is always a way man. |
