Does Nicotine (smoking, dip, chew, etc) affect bodybuilders?

Yes it does. I just read something about smoking affecting muscle growth. It was convincing. I don't remember a single detail about the article. I don't even remember where I read it.

Hope that helps

EDIT: I don't remember whether it was the Nicotine that was the problem.

Yes it stunts growth. Not to mention the cardio vascular problems.

TALO's Sig:"But when do you actually grow? Well, we don't grow in the gym. In the gym, we destroy. We tear down the body. We only grow when we are recovering. That's right, I said recovery. I see it all the time--people beating themselves up in the gym and not seeing results. They don't understand that hitting the weights hard is only a small part of growing or even cutting down. I could train the same all year round and get big or get ripped just by eating different and taking different supplements"

I don't think so. I think the article referenced a study. You can probably search and find it somewhere.

I wonder if Nicotine is the bad guy in this situation. I read somewhere that nicotine actually helps to cut fat.

I don't know about the study.. But I know I have put on 25 lbs since I quit smoking and all my lifts are through the roof.. Just personal experience.. Not sure if there is any correlation..

It also acts as an apetite suppressant. Which to me is the second biggest drawback.

No bodybuilders are immune to the effect of nicotine. We can also beat ourselves upside the head with a 12 pound mall daily with no adverse consequences.

Yes, nicotine does help people keep fat off but it does so in a way that ain't good for you. And it ain't good for your training.
