Gender: | I'm still pretty new to lifting and I'm starting to get a hang of all of it and understand what I need to do. I'm only 16 and I'm still growing, I'm afraid to begin doing squats because I've heard that it can damage the growth plates in your knees. So my question is, is it ok for me to squat or will I damage my knees? And if I do squat, should I max out? |

| Rank: Member Experience: 1-2 Years | I'm no injury expert, but simply anecdotal evidence tells me this: I'm a 17-year-old wrestler whose right knee has been really banged up since I was 8 years old, and I still squat way below parallel with heavy weight and it doesn't bother me. So if you don't have any injury to speak of, you can squat - just make sure to go deep and use good form. |
