IMO you can just start off low for a while. if your not going to any competitions or anything i dont see a the need for you to throw on as much as you can and doing it. just start off with some thing light enough for you to keep good form, but enough to keep you tired. when you get confident enough move on up slowely but surely.

No, no competitions in my future. Maybe if I stick with this for several years I'll check out some over "55" deal. My wife would be LOLing so hard she'd be DOA IF SHE HEARD THAT!! Just want to be the best I can be for the rest of my life. Be able to really enjoy it.

This morning, did'nt feel like it , but put in a leg day. Did:
Squats--3x6 (205) (could've got 1-2 more/but work alone)
Stiff Leg Deads--3x7 (165) (my grip gives out before failure)
Seated Calf Raises--3x14 (90) (lowered the weight/upped the reps)
Good enough for a leg day, or should I be doing more exercises?
I was doing Ham Leg Curls and Leg Extensions as heavy as I could for about 8 reps too.

Hey, MONSTAFACE, my fridge is kinda bare, wish I could run down to Gino & Joe's or Pat's and grab me a sandwich!!

I knew two of them, cross corner, was a little weird. Kinda like a cheessteak Starbuucks!

Now, back to bussiness, stupid question. Deadlifts are a lower back lift are'nt they? I mean you would do them with Rows and the like would'nt you? Concentrating on the lower back?

They should not be primarily a lower back lift. My hamstrings are more sore than my lower back when I do them. And the last third of the lift is a lot of upper back/hamstrings...pushing your hips through at the end pulls your shoulders back and completes the lift.

I've been doing a 4 or 5 day workout week.
1 Chest
2 Back/Biceps
3 Legs
4 Shoulders/Triceps
5 Arms, if I didn'tget them on days 2&3
I'm seeing good gains right now. As soon as the progress stops I will check out the routines talked about on this forum ie: 3x5, 5x5
For now where should I do Deadlifts, Back or Leg day?

Been reading up like I should've in the first place! Think I'm going to get on the Starting Strength program for awhile. I've been doing the one body part per week thing and from what I've been reading that's not the best way to go. I've been working out, inconsistently, for a few years. Going on 5 months in a row now. Never really did a basic program like SS. 3 day's a week with cardio in between sounds good to me. especially for the summer.
Any thoughts?
I've always been in decent shape but still consider myself pretty new to serious lifting. I'm probably one of the older guy's to do SS, but I feel like going back to square one and doing it right would be a good thing to do. I was also considering doing HST after SS.

Sounds smart to me. I think you'll be better off doing something like SS. HST can be good too. I know some people aren't fans of it. I shouldn't have been doing it when I did it, and I only did it for about 2 months anyway, I think. So I don't have too much to say about it. You can do SS forever. Granted you will probably need to make some changes along the way, but it's one of those programs that you should be able to gain from for a long time...a few years. It's a fad to change routines every few weeks or months. Focus on SS if that's what you're going to do.

Thanks for the reply. I'm on a week off now. Did'nt want to but I could tell I needed it. Now I'm psyched to start the SS. Guess I better get off of my cheap ass and order the book! Was hoping I'd find it free online or at my library, no such luck. Really want to get it though, and do this right.
