Default pushups each bathroom break

Quick question for the experienced and knowledgable...

am I overtraining when I do 12 pushups everytime I go to my (for now) private bathroom at work? It ends up being about every hour or less due to the massive amount of water I am drinking.

I feel like it is contributing to my gains at the gym and in size, but with so many variables, it is impossible to reliably find causation

I am really pushing myself more lately, adding compound exercises and fixing up my diet, so I can not tell...although I thoroughly enjoy my pushups every hour

any experienced/informational feedback would be appreciated

Maybe I'm crazy, but 12 pushups an hour spread out over a work day doesn't seem like it'd make that much difference to me. But I could be wrong.

What is your reason for doing them?

EDIT: Ok, just read your first post and it says why. Doing a lot of push ups will make you good at doing push ups. They're a great exercise. In your case, I don't think that doing them will hinder you very much, especially since it's so broken up. I doubt you'll put on much, if any, size because of them if they're spread throughout the day in sets of 12.

Ill bump it up to 15 today, just don't want my boss to think he is paying for me to work out...(in his mind it is a "work out"). Gotta keep it below his radar. I do feel like it helps though, even if it is a placebo effect, because it gets me worked up and feeling like im doing something.

By the end of the day I am tired from them, but thats also probably because i am working out everyday so my body is sore already.

If you all don't think it is going to hurt in any way, I will bump it up to 15 today and continue my bathroom pushups.

as a side note, im not ready to decrease my gym visits per week yet, although i know I will need to soon; partially because its helping me off the nicotine, and also because I want my body to be fully adapted to getting to bed early and waking early. If I woke up as early and didn't go to the gym, I would fall asleep parousing bb.net at 4:30 in the morning, haha.

thank you all for your replies!

It's good that you're dedicated, congrats on your progress in beating the nico. calling!! But just make sure you don't overtrain at the gym. How often do you do weights? It's recommended that you do weights 2-3 times a week.

its pretty cool that you can do that at work fish food, I personally dont think it will help much with hypertrophy, but endurance wise it should. And it may help keep your metabolism peaked throughout the day ... good stuff.
