Default Rippetoe's/general question

I didn't see this in the stickies, soo...
I'm increasing in strength so far, and also (this early in the program) probably finding my limits still. In the event that I use too much weight and can only do 4 of the 5 reps in my first set, is it better to keep using the same amount of weight and not get any full sets in, or drop the weight down to where I can?

Drop the weight down to where you can. You want it to feel moderately light at first. Don't worry about some exact weight you must find...all that can come later in your training. Just pick a nice manageable weight and build on it.

If you did it the other way you'd stall out PDQ.

I agree with Eric. Drop the weight to where you can manage to get all of the sets in and build from there. You do not want to push to far too fast and stall out. You want nice steady progression. Keep it up.
