Question Running before or after lifting

I run about 2-2.5 miles on the treadmill before I lift..

(I workout every 2nd day)

Just wondering if I should be doing it the other way around..

I would do it the other way around. But my goals might be different than yours...so what's your goal?

My goal is to build endurance, up my running milage, burn calories, lose a bit O fat..

Then burn some more calories and hopefully add some lean muscle mass and strength by lifting weights (hopefully more weight gradually each time).

PS, how do I edit my posts?

Edit: I'd like to get my body fat down, not necessarily my weight..

Then....lift first, do cardio second. The 40/30/30 isn't a bad macronutrient ratio to follow. I try to fall between 40/30/30 & 50/30/20.

Just reading this in the stickies:

Quote:
I’m a firm believer that PWO nutrition is hands down the most important aspect of dieting. It is within the 15 minutes after a workout that your body is in dire need of nutrients.
So, would after I lift be the "work-out", or after the run?

This is why I ran before my workout..

Because after I lifted weights is when I felt "worked out" LOL

Sometimes within 15 minutes after lifting I will get weak and shaky, and really need a shake...

The running, while hard on the heart, doesn't make my leg muscles hurt..

Thoughts?

Should I stick to running before in this case?

But doesn't that negate the idea of giving your body a rest for at least a day?

Plus, my muscles are nice and warmed up after the run..

Thoughts?

Running on Non-workout days isn't hard on the muscles. It actually helps to recover from soreness (if you're sore) by sending oxygen to the muscles. Also, if you run first, you wear yourself down a good bit. Then, you can't give it your all when you lift. If you feel shaky, that may be because your body isn't used to lifting first? But, if you prefer to run/do cardio before weights, they say to wait about 1/2 hour, I believe.
