Gender: | When I do lower body exercises I notice I have pains in my knees when I squat. I don't want to ignore and continue to squat because i'm scared I may tear something and it will prevent me from working out. I can do the leg press without any knee pain, could I substitute with that? or can you all give me any suggestions? Thanks |

Gender: | I spoke on this here: http://www.bodybuilding.net/training...pain-5026.html Additionally, specific to women is the wider pelvis and the wider Q-line (the difference between a straight line pull of the quad on the kneecap and the actual angle of pull). Some women, most probably, will not do well with a narrow stance so examine that. |

| Rank: New Member Experience: 3-5 Years | Two things have helped me with knee pain when I squat. The first was flax seed oil. I love that stuff. Second, take off your shoes when you squat, if you don't already. The heels in most shoes are slightly elevated, throwing your foot out of a natural alignment, and affecting everything above it. I only suggest these if the pain is rather minor, cause if it's really a problem, you're correct, you don't want to injure yourself. |

Gender: | I know what you are going through with the knee pain as I have experienced that crap for years. For myself, a couple of things that helped my pain was (at least at first) lowering the weight and making sure all of my squats were A2G. Stopping just below parallel, as so many suggest, will KILL your knees over time. Trust me go A2G. Second, try some chondroiton or other supplements designed to lubricate joints and repair cartilage. Hope that helps. |
