Default Whatever happened to chin ups !

Been noticing lately that very few workouts seem to contain wide grip chin ups. Back in the 80s everyone seemed to do them I would do 3 weighted sets front and 3 sets to the back of the neck also close grip bicep chins. Im crap at them now but I hope to get back to them soon.
I rarely see anyone do them at my gym im mystified because I think they hit the lats better than Lat pulldowns just my opinion. Any thoughts?

I absolutely think they do. I don't think lat pull downs are that great. My weight-training coach wouldn't even let us touch them!!

Whatever happened to chin ups !

They are hard to do, and make me feel like a weakling.

That being said, I do them 3 days a week on cardio days, and also on my back day at the gym.....I still hate them though

Yes hard to do but that’s a good thing same with Squats and dead lifts. I used to love chins and dead lifts perhaps im mad, Being honest I hated Squats but I always did them as I knew they were the best thing you could do to grow. front and back right down ass to ground.
I hope to get back to all of them soon once my back improves. At present im 205 Ibls at 5,8 once I loose some excess weight and build up strength ill be ditching pulldowns for chins. Perhaps some guys feel that they cant do enough reps and are afraid to look stupid in the gym basically because of pride. The only person ive seen chin at my gym in the past 7 weeks since I resumed training was a young guy around 17 who did a set. There’s a lot of big powelifters who hog the squat rack as their own but they never go near the chin up bar I reckon there’s dust on it

I'm a pullup/chinup junky. I actually treat them as a priority in many ways.

EricT's Sig:I'm tired of the myth that bb'rs aren't flexible. As a group, they are extremely flexible. They have an amazing ability to bend over, place their heads between their legs, and blow smoke up their own asses.
