About all this "6 pack abs" blah stuff

I've heard both to destroy your abs a few times a week, and I've heard that the other lifts will sufficiently work them out. I know the look of your abs is 85% diet, but when it comes down to it, ideally which do you think works best for making your abdominal muscles really stand out as far as training?

I work my core 3 times a week. However, it's with the idea that those movements are to strengthen my core. With that said your abs aren't going to show unless you lose a sufficient amount of bodyfat. How good your abs look will depend on your diet, genetics and to a small extent your core workouts. I don't do crunches. Never have and I never will. I do planks, locamotives (something I took from a P90X routine) hanging leg lifts, hyperextensions and twists. Once again it is a core workout and I never work my core any more than mon/wed/fri which takes no more than about 20 minutes.

If you have never done a plank try 5-10 sets each for 20 seconds. It'll change your idea of a core workout forever.

Nice response! He's right! if you haven't done much ab training starting off with function movements that use the abs as a stabilizer is the best start. I would also alternate mount climbers and T-raises, also dumbbell swings are good

Doing isolation exercises on your abs should only be done after you've adapted to all the basic body weight excises. Stabilizing exercises are your key for nice abs. Hope this helps!

To your success,

Travis

I personally started using one of those foam rollers about 2 years ago, I lay down and balance with my spine trying not to touch the ground, do 10-20 situps, those side situps that work your obliques, leg raises, then just 30 seconds of hands and feet straight out, all that while trying to balance on the roller, amazing core workout...I was just wondering person opinions/experiences you guys have had seeing as how there's been a lot of "6 pack abs" posts lately

If you want to try something that works your obliques much better than side cruches try doing side bridges, or side planks as some people call them. Enjoy the porn music..
