Here's what Im trying to do, just starting out:

Been doing average 30 min cardio 5 days a week and weights. My weight routine has been 1 set as many reps as I can with as much weight as I can tolerate. Want to lose weight and build a little muscle. Not sure the best way to do this. I am drinking protein shakes, as well to help the muscles.

Advice?

Burn fat and gain muscle, huh? I recommend you seperate your cardio from your resistance training. At least 6 hours inbetween. If time permits, cardio in the early am, weights in the pm (after work?) I wouldn't combine the two.

i agree sounds like you would be worn out after cardio, and wouldnt give your resistance training your full potential

You must seperate cardio from weights. You also need to tell us what you are doing for a weight training routine (it dosen't sound good already) and what's your diet like. The idea when losing weight is to keep the muscle you have and lose fat.

Since when was it bad to do cardio and weights at the same general time? Ive yet to see a book that says that.

Im still working on my diet, and Im having a bit hard time sticking to it at the moment.

Most of my goal is to lose weight, the muscle thing is secondary although I would like a little something.

As far as my weights, just a general main-muscle group work out for the whole body 3x a week, 1 set for each main part.

Most books tell you what they think an average person is willing to do, not necessarily what is BEST. What is BEST is typically too "hard".

For instance I can either do cardio or weight training in one day, not both. A more dedicated person would do both. I have other priorities pulling me, though I know the best thing for my health is to do both several times a week.

u asked for advice so that was mine. if u dont want it then dont ask :p in my personnal experience if im going hard at something then im gunna be basically dead after its done, it could be different for someone thats going to try and lose weight and gain a little muscle

By keeping them together you won't gain any muscle and in fact my lose muscle but you will burn fat because you basically doing one big cardio session. It's all about the diet so I would suggest that you may consider a CKD diet. This will help you drop the fat and at least give you a chance in maintaining your muscle.

Im ignorant on this. What is a CKD diet? Im taknig supplements with this, DNC women's ultra mega, fish body oil capsules, flax seed oil capsules.
