Bench press tricks?
Has anyone tried doing benchpress, or dumbell presses, with partial reps, where your upper arms are parallel w/ your chest? I had heard that they focus more on the chest, until I tried them last night-trust me, they work (at least for me)! Also, since I learned about it, I have started squeezing the bar tightly. I maxed out the other day on bench, and I was happy w/ my results!! I've also done Dumbell presses while lying on the floor, to only use the pecs. Do you guys know of any other tricks?

floor press and board presses?

Yeah, the floor press is one of the ones I was talking about. The board press is different, though. The one I mean, you can basically imagine trying to benchpress a weight DB or BB, and you can't lift it all the way, (until your arms are fully extended) just about halfway.

Are you talking about working the bottom half of the motion? (Off the chest to upper arm parallel with the ground)

Thats what it sounds like to me kane. Personally I only ever use them if I have a sticking point I need to get past.

i hate the bench press
different strokes for different folks...
its funny because different things do work for different people.....take jeremy hoornstra for example...the guy is gonna shatter the raw bench record soon. but if you look at the workout program he's on: it looks like a VERY typical 4 or 5 day bodybuilding split....
here's a vid of him:
he's raw benched 675 lbs for a single. unfortunately, the vid was taken down a few days ago...which sucks lol...

Dang, Jeremy's good!:yikes: Yep, that's it, Kane.

Using chains or elastic straps tied to the floor can help you add gradual strength to the end of the press.

Oh, yeah, I recently saw Warren Branch using chains while doing bench press sets in a muscle mag.
