deadlift increase
hey, ive been lifting for football for about 14 months now. during this time my hex bar deadlift has gone up dramaticly from 225 to 325. however im going to be a junior next year and id like to play some varsity football, ive notice that all the varsity linemen (i play line also) can deadlift atleast 450, and some up into the mid 500's. i was wondering, other than of course doing deadlift and squats and leg press, what other lifts would you guys recomend to get my max up that high before august. we use the hex bars at the school weightroom, if that changes anything. thanks.

why do you use hex bars instead of straight bars?

Pullthroughs might help. But your best bet is to continue doing Dead's and just slowly increase your weight. You will be up there in no-time

Retardedly heavy ab work has helped me bring my deadlift up. Whether its coincidence or not I don't know :biglaugh:

1. they're easier to do more weight for us 2. everyone else uses them in our weightroom 3. there already out with 100's on each side all the time 4. coach tought us ho to use a hex bar and not a strait bar |
i could always just loose 30 pounds and play fullback instead... i mean ive only got 2 years under my belt right now, although both at line.

Bro, your only 16 - don't compare yourself to an 18 yr old linebacker. Most likely they have 2 yrs of training on you, so just have patience....continue to lift hard, and eat more if you want to make some gains.:biglaugh:

the strongest 3 guys on the team are sophmores, which i find funny as hell, but that means we'll have a good line senior year. so im fine even if im second string as a senior, as long as i get my letter. lol.

Deadlift is by far the easiest (for me anyway) lift to progress on. Its your heaviest lift and I've made PR's of 25lbs or more. Stick with it, use the proper form, eat your ass off, and it will come.
