Do heavy lowerbody exercises widen your waist?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anybody could tell me if squats, deadlifts, roman deadlifts, etc... broaden your waist. I have broad hips as it is, and I want to avoid widening my waist as much as possible. Any comments or suggestions?

No. Getting fat widens your hips.

If you have wide hips you should be more worried about building a wider back, bigger chest, broader shoulders and big legs rather than worrying about your waist.

And yes, if you avoid heavy deep correct Squats. Deadlifts, RDLs you will not get anywhere.

Your hips no. Your waist well... Your actual waist measurement should be taken around belly button (ish) height. Squats and deads put alot of stress on the core. I definitely believe that I am thicker through the core from doing squats and deads and all other variants.

^^^ Yes but that is more from muscle than fat, right?

Yes that is what I was getting at. Although getting fat will do it as well. Hahaha
