Default Dumbbells for Presses?

To try to mix things up a bit I've begun doing dumbbell inclines and dumbbell bench presses instead of using a bar.

Is this a good alternative, or is it better/worse than using a bar?

Just looking for opinions on this one, basically. Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about which is better. You should be doing both, so that's all you really need to worry about IMHO.

mmmkay. I just didn't want to be redundant in my workouts if they were really close to each other in benefit. (I probably wouldn't do bar and dumbbell inclines in the same day).

flat bar and db inclines would be good on the same day.

but why? I can't just know that it works, I have to know why.

I'm the kind of person who needs to know a structure behind stuff

Ok I signed up because this thread is full of /facepalm responses.

Good job on switching over to dumbbells, they are MUCH better than using the bar. When you use a bar you are missing out on working the stability factor of your joints. So I ask you, what is strength without stability? Nothing.

I see this thread similar to: what's better Leg Press or Squats? Use dumbbells. That's the way to go.

Vagitarian is right about the stability. As you may know there are two groups in the chest, pec major and minor. Bar hits major, dbs hit minor. Hit both for max benefits.
