Farmers walk?

So i just recently came across an article dictating that Jay Cutler had the ability to farmers walk with 400 pounds in each hand for a certain required distance (didnt say).... Quite an achievement if you ask me.

I was just wondering what are the benefits of performing the farmers walk?, and should it be added into a weight training regimen although it is commonly a "STRONG MAN" type of lift?

duhrrrrr i should've known that. That is impressive, although I figure most of us can lift quite a bit on that exercise.

That's what I was thinking.

It's mainly a test of grip strength ... but you also have to be able to physically lift the weights from resting position so it's somewhat of a test of your deadlifting ability as well. Although usually they handles are much higher than that of a true deadlift.

Walking with the weight also takes a great amount of core stability to remain upright with all the weight trying to jerk you around.
