I won't train if I'm sick. Head cold maybe, but rarely. Its been my experience that going to the gym while sick either prolongs the sickness or pisses me off because I'm not lifting what I should be.

In my case I would much rather take a week or 2 off than lift half assed for 3 or 4.

I chose not to lift because I felt so bad. I normally push through if it's just a cold or something, but this was horrible. Some type of a throat infection that's resistant to antibiotics. The medicine they gave me actually hurts worse than the sickness.

I'm good now, but I think being in decent shape helped some.

It went around here at work and some of these folks were really hurting.
