Look good?

I have been wotking out for about 3 months now and ive had an absolute mess of a routine. I would switch and put my own variations on things and now I feel week and over trained. So putting the old routine aside im starting a new one and i wanna know if this looks good to you guy so here goes.

dead lift
squat
bench press
clean
chin up
military press
bent over row
Dips
bicep curl
calf raises
Ab work

What the hell was your old routine!?! Jesus that is too much.

Well that kinda sets me back. I would list my old routine but it sounds like you would be horrified. you guys have any suggestions on what my routine should look like? Im trying to gain mass.

look into something similar to rippetoe's starting strength.....google it :) no wonder you got burned out/overtrained....that's wayyyyyyyy too much workload.

Whats a good amount of time to take off since I'm over trained? 1week? 2 weeks? a month?

Ross86 08-10-2009 06:28 PM

A year. :)

Jk, there should be an informative thread on overtraining somewhere.

Pitysister 08-10-2009 06:31 PM

i think darkhorse explained it....somewhere. :)

I am willing to bet you are nowhere close to being "overtrained".

Just eat, sleep and program your training. You'll be fine. Go to Ground Up Strength and read some of the articles out there. Eric Troy and Joe Weir (that would be Kane) do a great job of putting thoughts to words.
