Default Lunges v SLDL

Do you think I could substitute Lunges for straight leg deadlifts to work the hammies? My form is crappy on the SLDL and I'd rather do lunges than hurt myself with the others.

Do you have a leg sled at your gym? I use that instead sometimes for hams. Just position your feet high and you'll definately feel the benefit.

My current leg routine mimick's the Max-OT one with squats, leg presses and sldl's. (okay, this was the first week, but...) So I was wondering is the lunges could replace the sldl's effectively.

If not, I'll just have to work on my form. Currently, I cannot get that low without my back rounding.

My legs didn't grow with the Max-OT routine because I feel they need more than 4-6 reps per set. If I ever do Max-OT again, I'd make alot of tweeks such as doing sets of 8-10 for legs.
