You're right except the exercises you mentioned really don't have much to do with the abs main function. That's just flexion.

Rotary stability is one of the main jobs and stability in general. The type of exercises to do are all kinds of planks, rotational movements like cable woodchops or russian twists, barbell russian twists, side bends like Saxon side bends, anti-rotation like Pallof press, AR barbell, for flexion (minor) ab-pulldowns and Janda situps will be a better choice.

I see that people understand that doing supplemental "core" work is very important. But what we now have to get is that CRUNCHES AIN'T CORE WORK.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

I like to just put in the things that I feel most can do without hurting themselves. That's more advanced stuff...but you're right.

I didnt say crunches were core work....

I said you cant do crunches and sit ups and expect to burn fat around your abdomen.

You implied it. You said what you said. It's right their in black and white. Instead of getting uppity and claiming you didn't say what you clearly said..CLARIFY what you meant.

However, ab exercises are not meant to help your abs show they are meant to increase their function. Having a strong core is a must for any big compound lift.
Then you wen't on to talk about how crunches won't spot reduce in the same paragraph. You couple that together and, sorry, but it looks like you are saying that crunches are for "core work" but don't spot reduce.

I'm not going to pretend with you. Sorry.
