Need Help...
I have a few questions that may seem dumb, and I'm probably gonna get some "smart" comments, but i'm not a lifting expert lol. So I'm a 5'10 junior and I weigh about 150 lbs, and I'm not skinny, but I'm average and I have definition. I want to try and get a little more mass, b/c I don't want to be grossly buff and huge. I have 2 20lbs weights and 2 35 lbs weights. My workout currently consists of Standing tricep extensions with the 20s, 3x8, Bicep curls with the 35s, 3 sets until i'm tired, Dips 3x30, Isolated bicep curls with 35s 3x8, lying tricep extension with the 20s 3x10, dumbell flys with the 35s 3x8, and reverse bench press with the 35s 3x8. My questions is, With that workout, can I get bigger or would I need more? I feel stronger, but I'm not seeing my muscles getting bigger. I also have a fast metabolism, if that helps. I know its a lot of info, but I want you guys to know all I can give you. Thanks in advance.

I'm also new to lol

You want to get bigger then eat more and do heavy compound lifts, you don't work out your legs at all, heavy leg lifts will make your whole body grow...so that, and again, calories, shove food down your throat

Your workout needs a lot more, if you're serious then you should join a gym and get a solid routine
|
Join a gym or get workout equipment from somewhere because you won't see much progress with what you have.

Alright, yea my school has an open weight room now, so I'll probably just go there.

You'll never be big using 20lb and 35lb weights. Fact.
Get to the gym and hit all the big compounds lifts as has been stated and EAT. Oh and sleep! IW |
Honestly, thank you all for your help, cause I was getting frustrated not understanding why I had definition but no mass lol

Heavy compound lifts are the key to getting big, as everyone said. Bench Press, Press, Deadlift, Squat.
Those are the core lifts that enable to lift the most amount of weight using the most amount of muscle. Everything else done in the gym should be done with the intent of getting those lifts up, when doing them just by themselves is no longer productive. |
Everyone in this thread hit it on the head pretty good! Keep at it and don't quit. Make sure you log your progress as well. You can't get where your going if you don't know where you've been. Set goals for yourself and work towards them. Do heavy compound exercises and Eat Eat Eat! Still not gaining weight? Eat more. In my opinion a good rep range can be anywhere from 5-8 reps.
