Sit ups? almost daily and a little cardio would help as well. Train hard and it will pay off

apocalypse 05-12-2005 12:19 PM

Dude its just baby fat, why are u worrying about it now?? Shit I didnt even care about my body when I was 13, I used to run around buck naked around the pool all the time when I was ur age, I still got attention because of my big anaconda. :p

Unless you are really chubby, I guarantee your peers don't really care what you look like with a shirt off and your making a bigger deal of it than they are. The biggest problem with kids your age that are overweight or have some flab are that they either eat alot of junk or are pretty inactive. The best thing you can do is to get more active either go running, play some sports, or just plain get off your butt. Instead of playing video games, go biking or something. Find something fun and get your friends into it. Inactivity used to be my problem when I was younger, especially in the winter when I just sat around playing video games but when summer came I would lose alot when the courts thawed out. As far as abs go your not going to get great definition at your age and no one expects you to. Just eat healthier and be more active, your young metabolism should take of the rest.

man don't worry about it... if you want to know the secret for looking good at your age is...
don't play video games all day/ watch TV.. don't eat junk food... and go outside and get involved in some after school activates... I picked martial arts when I was 10 so that was my big sport..

OMG  .... I sound like my parents... they were right.. this is a strange enlightenment for me... I'm going to need a minute .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .............. ok, it's gone... wait....... yeah it's gone

Coke/Pepsi

Yeah, do all those things, and stay the hell away from soft drinks. I used to guzzle coke and pepsi like a fiend. After I stopped drinking it all together, I started losing weight just because of that. If you want to drink soda, pick a diet one.

sdf42450 05-12-2005 09:23 PM

cut out all soda's, candy, chips, etc. just avoid junk food and the fat will probably come off relatively easily. like the other guys said, its most likely not as noticable to anyone else as it is to you. don't worry about it, just enjoy bein' a kid while you can :p

if i were u, i would try to take in as much about nutrition as i can now and get into a cycle of eating healthy this was my mistake i had no concept of what the word calorie, of course i knew it was a word but i didnt know how many i should be gettin a day things like that. Learn to eat healthy now and you wont have problems later on down the road

Darkhorse 05-13-2005 03:57 AM

I'd say to join a few different sports teams. Soccer, basketball, ect. Being active at your age is the best advice I can think of.

Tom 05-13-2005 06:15 AM

you cannot spot reduce. meaning, if you got a little chub around the midsection you can't do situps and "burn it off" you gotta reduce your overal bodyfat. your body will genetically have certain spots that it "likes" to store fat. in many peoples cases that is their torso. (ie stomach/love handles/chest) you are going to have to eat right to lower your bodyfat and those areas WILL slim down... it wont' happen overnight though. doing situps will help in that situps will tone/tighten the muscle, but to be able to SEE the muscle you gotta get rid of the fat. ever wonder why sometimes you'll see a guy that is skinny as shit but doesn't have abs? its b/c he has low BF% but he hasnt' built up the muscle mass to have that 6-pack look. same thing with a guy who does tons of situps/ab work but is carrying some fat on him... he wont' have the 6-pack look either b/c although he has the musculature, he doesn't have low enough BF% to show 'em off. you have to have both.

like we've said (and we are honestly trying to help you out here) diet is KEY. abs are made in the kitchen. if you aren't eating correctly you can do 1000 situps a day and still never see a 6-pack

I only 15, I lost 40 pounds in 2 years, something clicked when I hit the summer after 7th grade. I was always active though but still pretty big. I play hockey all the time. Once of the reason I was so big was probably because of the muscle mass underneath the fat. So said my doctor. While I was losing weight I lifted a lot turning some fat into muscle. Now I seemed to leveled out around 160. I want to lose more weight, but it will probably be more healthy to just continue to bulk up and turn as much remaining fat as possible into muscle. I'm mainly trying to tight end the lose skin that I have from losing the weight. I'm actually eating to little, not getting enough caleries to match my active life style. If you want to lose weight, you still have to eat in order to maintain energy to work out.

If you eat doritoes, stop. I probably lost all that weight from not eating doritoes.

PS. I wish I was 5'9 when I was 13, I'm 5'8 at 15.

correct, if you are restricting calories too much (in an attempt to lose weight) you can slow down your thyroid output (which in turn makes losing fat HARDER) or you cause your body to canabolize musclemass (less muscle mass means a greater portion of the mass you DO have is fat... ie if you lose muslce mass and keep the wieght the same your trading muscle for fat which means your BF% is going UP UP UP) ALSO, muscle takes a lot more calories to fuel during the day than fat. take 2 guys, both weigh 250lbs. one is solid muscle, ripped to the core... the 2nd is a butterball. the guy that is ripped is burning a TON more calories than the guy that is just fat. why? b/c muscle requires energy, fat is the body's preferred storage system and requires very very little energy to maintain. this all goes back to diet... your body does not want to be 200+lbs of ripped muscle mass. the energy expenditure required to maintain that is very inefficient. to achieve a build like that you have to eat a LOT (of the right things) and FORCE your body to build that muscle at the expense of fat. diet/excercise are where its at... you can't have the body of your dreams without eating & excercising properly

and your only 13. damn your a big kid.. look man you have alot of time to worry about how you look later. If you just give your body time to age I will guarantee you by the time you get into 9th or 10 grade, based on your size now, you will be huge and cut. just stick around here and get as much information as you can now.

When losing Body Fat it all comes down to diet. Yeah that's right no matter how much sit-ups, crunches etc you do you will never get ride of that body fat. Of course you will lose fat doing cardio, but after your body adapts you will lose only a certain amount of body fat. That's when diet comes in. Aim for 5-6 meals spaced evenly throughout the day with average calories divided by the meals. NEVER EAT BEFORE BED! That's right almost everything you eat after two hours before bed is stored as body fat. to find your average calories multiply your body weight by 18. to lose weight subtract about 500 calories from this amount. GOOD LUCK all the best.

i was looking for that formula thanks for sharing that

apocalypse 05-14-2005 11:15 AM

This whole thing sounds to me like a big joke. When I was 13 I didnt even wear shorts coming out of shower. I also used to run around the house naked at that age :D Hell, abs were always my weekness, good thing, Indian girls dont give a shit about abs, they just want someone who can kick other Indian boys ass :D
