Oh, good. Then you just have to work on the flexibility of the hams to do it on the ground. That's "active" flexibility and the best way to do it is just do it. You can do some dynamic hamstring work before but of course you wouldn't want to do long static hamstring stretches because you need your hams to be awake in order to actually do the squats.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Wow, tons of great information. And I'm definitely sold - split squats followed by lunges kicked the shit out of me so a straight up single leg squat, I can't even imagine. Thanks for the links Eric.

Well the good thing is you can work the single legs for a while without "sacrifising" anything on the actual supported single leg stuff because the pistols will just make you better at them. Whereas I haven't found that the supported stuff necessarily make you that much better at pistols..so if you think about it in terms of progression it makes perfect sense to just go ahead and rock the singles.

Plus the benefits as to mobility AND stability at the hips and ankles are way beyond any supported stuff.

BTW, that guy Steve Cotter can do like 15 or 20 of them holding 88 pound kettleballs in his hands...now that is strong, I don't care who you are

A pretty cool exercise from Men's PowerTraining. I tried this..suprised me. Not that hard but I put a plate on my belly:

You can definitely feel the need to stabilize the ball. Big core component in there. You want to start with a hip extension then follow with the knee. Sort of like a supine ghr...

I'll start doing this and see how's I like it but so far Men's Power Training is just chalked full of interesting varieties.

Ah: Here is the two legged version it looks like. Like I said a ghr...

im really enjoying bulgarian splits intead of one of my squats on my 5x5, they really sort my glutes and hams out as while ur doing them your feeling your quads working so i can do more than just working the glutes and hams.
Just my personal feelings while im doing the exercise, some people might feel diffrently!
