Upper body workout
Hey guys, i've got one small problem, my legs are growing well and they seem to accept more weight well, but my upper body not so much. My shoulders are somewhat small and so are my arms, my triceps is my biggest concern. I was wondering if you guys could recommend a good upper body workout?
NEED MORE INFO.
Everything and anything you can think of including exactly what you are dong now, what the plan of progression is, etc.
well at the moment i'm doing the Bill Starr Power routine. I'm benching 195 at the moment and would like to reach 245, that's my present goal. Is there any more info you would be needing ?
The first thing is a more clear statement of your goals.
If your primary goal is to get your bench up then what is the problem? Is the problem that your shoulders and arms are not growing, as you said in the first post? Or have you gotten stuck on bench (plateaued) and can't add weight any more?
If you have noticed growth in the rest of you body, your bench is moving but it's just that you aren't getting that growth, then just stay the course plus do the one day of military press and growth will come and with more strength will better potential for pure mass.
But I'll let you tell us vwhat is going on. From what you are saying I don't really know what is going on. It sounds like you are doing the Bill Starr routine but your arms and shoulders aren't blowing up over night so you want a new upper body routine, which would probably entail a new lower body routine also.
Something about forums has really given people funny ideas about training. If you were to hire a personal trainer, or at least one that is worth his/her salt, you would likely get a huge questionnaire to fill out (at least you should), even if you had very few stated goals. A good tainer might take a week to get through all the basics and be able to design something. Yet people routinely come to forums and expect to have their problems solved based on hardly any specific info. Basically what you get usually in that case is people pointing you to random programs or something they happen to like. But when you start giving more specific information, people start giving you more specific advice, and that is about 1000 times more helpful. This statement is not just about you, medium, it's a general thing that everyone should be aware of.
my goal yes would be to get my shoulders to grow, i haven't had any growth in that area and am slightly dissapointed and would like to gain more mass. I guess you gave me the answer i was looking for then.
What are your stats? Where did you start and how far have you come? You eating right? Overtraining?
By the way, legs have a tendency to get stronger faster then the upper body.
^^^I'm thinking you're not going to get any answers, X. But it the routine is going okay then there you go. Like Dr X said, it's normal for lower body to get stronger faster.
Anyway, you're welcome for what little I did :)
i currently weight 190 lbs
i can bench 195 lbs
squat 245 and deadlift 245
my starting weight was 150 lbs and i'm 6'1.
i feel that i've made progress but that its rate has slowed down. Sorry for not answering i haven't had time lately to come on the website.
progress will slow down...that's part of it :) that's when it's time to mix it up...add reps and sets before you up the weight...plenty of ways to progress instead of just slapping more weight on the bar.
