The back is a very large muscle and won’t burn like the biceps will. As long as your doing them until you fail you should be fine. You might want to try lightning the weight and go with high reps for a while and then increase the weight again. Also the grip suggestion by 0311 is a good idea as well.
Are you doing chins and pull downs?
