potatoes are have a very high GI (glycemic index). Which means that it is like eating sugar, and if you want to cut you don't want food high in GI. you want to eat foods that are have low GIs so it takes longer for the sugars to break down and be digested. this means that the sugar stays longer in your system and has a less if not zero chance of being stored as fat..
